There are some basic theories that you must accept before you begin your weight loss program. They are natural, somewhat spiritual and have logical implications on your weight loss journey. You must accept these elements before you decide on your methods. Then you can decide on what foods to eat, how much to eat, what kind of exercise program (a must) and how to make adjustment with these element during this weight loss journey. Above all, you must be honest with yourself. Love yourself enough to be truthful and honest. You are the instructor to you and your program. Remember you’re in charge, so TAKE CHARGE.
Too many mouths to feed
As we grow older and gain more body weight, our body becomes comfortable at this undesirable weight. Once our body produces a fat cell we have it for the rest of our life. It never goes away unless it’s extracted by a method of liposuction in cosmetic surgery. These fat cells need to be fed everyday just as you need to eat everyday. Now let’s imagine instead of one mouth to feed, you and your body have millions of mouths to feed everyday. Not a pretty site. But its true, that’s why when you start on a new diet, you make very little progress in the early stages of your diet. Sound familiar. Your body and those millions of cells (mouths) need nourishment everyday and they fight to maintain that comfortable weight. Now here is the solution, you can’t get rid of the cell, but you can shrink them. That’s the difficult process, because you must train these cells so to speak to live on less and become comfortable with a smaller intake everyday. During this process your body will scream everyday and hour that you are doing something wrong, but DON’T LISTEN. Keep doing what you are doing with limiting your caloric intake everyday until you reach your goal of the desired bodyweight. The battle is not over, for you have to train your body that this is how it’s going to be, so live with it. After a period of months and it could very well be years before you can feel you have won the war.
I don’t like to sweat when working out
Many if not all feel that they can accomplish this weigh loss without some form of exercise. You can but the weight loss process time is almost double. One of my theories is that you have to shock the system, (it’s like slapping yourself silly up side the head to get the message that a change is coming, so live with it). It’s a lifestyle change of eating less, eating better foods, and working out. Some people don’t know what working out is. Trust me on this, it means raising your heart rate and sweating. That’s right, for you people that think you can work out without sweating, you are misinformed. Sweating is good for the largest organ of your body, the skin. It cleans out the pores and flushes out unwanted material. Now when I say break a sweat, I don’t mean go full out the first day. Star pushing your body and if you are not a little sore the second day after your workout, you bailed out and didn’t push your body enough. Now you are two days behind. Come on, we are preparing you for the rest of your life. It’s easier to do it now and a hell of lot cheaper than to wait and pay a bigger price on the other end. Thank about it, the price on the other end. Can’t get out of bed, can’t walk up and down stairs, can’t go shopping, can’t play with your grandchildren, and can’t get playful with your significant other and the list goes on. Do it now when you are in a better position to have some success.
I’ve tried everything, but I can’t loose the weight
I have heard these cries of excuses too many times. Now let be honest with each other but more important with yourself. You are the one paying the price for the weight loss programs not working and if not today, I assure you will later on in your life. It doesn’t take a rocked scientist to come to some conclusion about your inability to loose weight. Whatever you are doing, it’s not working and you MUST make some adjustment in your program.
After not seeing any progress with your program after a significant time, do this, whatever you are eating, cut EVERYTHING in half. Cut the portions in half. Whatever you are eating, eat half a much. Trust me; you will see some change in your weight loss.
Remember your lovely and caring mother saying to you when you were a child “now eat everything on your plate before you go”. She was just telling you how much she loved you, but at the same time she was sending you a message that is programmed in your brain and to this day, you are following it. But think about it, today you are probable not as active as you were as a child and don’t need that high caloric intake. Your body metabolism has slowed down tremendously, so you can get by on so much less. Your body (cells) eat and nourish themselves and the rest is stored as fat on your hips, thighs and abdomen. And over the years this unwanted fat becomes undesirable.
Here is what I suggest you do. Unless your eating in a gourmet restaurant where they serve smaller portions, NEVER clean your plate. Always leave food on your plate. Don’t’ feel guilty about children going hungry somewhere in the 3rd world, that’s an excuse.
I do this all the time, when I go to my favorite steak house. I will invite my dinner partner to share a steak and split it. Then we order extra sides of salads, greens, things that are good for you. Recognized those items that are most dangerous for you, and split those with your dinner partner. You can save a lot of money for your next shopping trip to the maul. If you leave the dinner table and you feel stuffed, you’ve been bad. You are regressing and now you have to work harder to get on pace again.
Feel guilty, beat yourself up a little, because you are an intelligent individual and you know better. Make a pack with yourself that you will be better tomorrow and go for it with passion. Remember it’s the quality of life on the other end that you are preparing yourself for. You deserve the best.
Save Your Company, Run Don’t Walk
Now that you have decided to start a weight loss program, check with your personal doctor. You will want to make sure you are healthy enough to begin your journey. I personally think that there should be some sense of urgency to your program. Being in your condition for sometime has been a negative impact on your body. Your body has been operating in this negative state for years. You will want to reverse the process as quickly as you can just to get back to the position that you have a fighting chance. Only when you reach your ideal weight can you begin to truly repair the damage that has been done.
Think about it like this. You and your body are a little company. Your little company has been operating in the RED for so long that it’s imperative that you get back in black or you will have to close your business. You now have filed for bankruptcy and you are attempting to save you and your little company for going under. I’m not trying to be funny, but that the bottom line.
Feel the sense of urgency? Try this concept. You are about to begin your journey and imagine that you can see the finish line out in the distant future. You are standing on the starting line. Take two steps forward and turn around and imagine that you can see the image of yourself still standing there. Take a good look at yourself (company) and see all its imperfections. See how much you have aged more quickly than was necessary. This is you and you much get away as quickly as you can and begin your journey to repair the damage that has been done. Don’t walk away, RUN away for each step you take creates a positive impact. The faster you run and do the work along the way, the quicker you can get to the finish line. During this journey, the sense of urgency implies that you do several things to speed up the process. Keep the intensities up, eat better foods, eat less but eat enough to give your body energy to maintain a more intense program.
